The Barkhamsted School PTO Board would like to welcome you to the 2011-2012 school year. We would like to extend an especially warm welcome to the new families joining our school. We hope that this will be a great year for each and every one of you!
Each year at Barkhamsted Elementary, the PTO provides a variety of programs and services to enhance the education of every child. Here is a summary of what has been offered in the past:
- Cultural Enrichment Programs (including musicians, ventriloquists, dance performances, etc.)
- Science Programs/Presentations
- Guest Authors/Book Signings
- Field Trip Funds (to help offset the cost of class Field Trips)
- Family Activities (Bingo, Harvest Carnival, Dances, Movie Night, etc)
- Teacher Mini Grants (allows each teacher and/or team to enrich their curriculum)
- Staff Appreciation Luncheon
- Bus Driver Appreciation Breakfast
The PTO exists to support the students, parents, and staff at Barkhamsted Elementary School. Research shows that student achievement is directly linked to parent involvement. So, we are asking you to use your talents and resources to make a difference, get to know your school and other parents, and discover skills you never knew you had. There are opportunities for everyone no matter your area of interest, time constraints, or background. We welcome everyone – parents, grandparents, family friends, neighbors, relatives and caregivers – to take part. Parent participation is what makes our PTO work!
We meet the 1st Wednesday of each month; at 7:00 p.m. in the school library
